 Noted events in his life were:
• Residence: Rowesgift: Bellaghy, Co. Londonderry, Ireland. 2 The home of Dawson Downing was given to Dawson's father John and his mother Anne nee Rowe by Anne's father the Rev. Simon Rowe as a wedding gift hence the name of the house. On present day maps the spelling is different, but on a tablet in the Bellaghy church placed by Simon and his wife Anna as a memorial to seven of their children they spell their name as Rowe.
The name of the house is recorded in Burke's Peerage (107th Edition) as Rosegift.
Dawson married Anne Boyd. (Anne Boyd died in 1816 in Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin, Ireland 1.)
