Sir Richard Fiennes Baron Saye & Sele (7th)
General Notes: de jure of the Feb 1446/47 cr. a title he had for some time claimed, winning recognition from James I but with in effect a new creation 9 Aug 1603 as 1st Baron Saye & Sele by letters patent, though with remainder to heirs general (i.e. so as to include females and their issue), whereas the 1446/47 one had almost certainly with remainder to heirs male only. Noted events in his life were: • Education: Winchester, Hampshire, England. • Knighted, 1592. • Occupation: Sheriff, 1594, Oxfordshire. • Occupation: Envoy to Landgrave of Hesse, 1596. Together with his cousin the 2nd Earl of Lincoln Richard married Constance Kingsmill, daughter of Sir William Kingsmill and Unknown, circa 1581. (Constance Kingsmill died circa 1587.) Richard next married Elizabeth Codingham, daughter of Henry Codingham and Unknown. (Elizabeth Codingham died in 1632.) |
